Fried Food- Day 4- Blogukkah

Suliad! It’s Kiki! Today, I have for you pictures of some delicious fried food I’ve been eating! We eat fried foods on Hanukkah because of the miracle with the oil! They only had enough oil for the menorah for one day but it ended up lasting eight days!

DSC_0994DONUTS!! I think the Chocolate iced are my favorite from Krispy Kreme 🙂

Latkes are like hash browns but in a pancake form. This year was my first time trying them and let’s just say they were way better with ketchup 😉

Anybody hungry yet? Have you ever tried Latkes? Tell me in the comments down below!

Hanukkah History- Day 1- Blogukkah

february (1)What’s up, Guys? It’s Kiki! Before I start, I want to say: Happy Hanukkah! ( If you celebrate it, of course 😉 ) Cause today is the first day of Hanukkah! *throws blue and white confetti and gelt into the air* *spins dreidels and shoves doughnuts and latkes into mouth* So, to celebrate this joyous holiday I’m doing sort of like a blogmas but different. I’m going to try to post something Hanukkah related all 8 days. Today, I’m going to start off with the story or history of Hanukkah. Let’s begin!

Unlike many Jewish holidays, Hanukkah (also known as the Festival of Lights) is not mentioned in the Bible. The historical events upon which the celebration is based are recorded in Maccabees I and II, two books contained within a later collection of writings known as the Apocrypha. Although Hanukkah is considered a “minor” Jewish festival, today it ranks—along with Passover and Purim—as one of the most beloved Jewish family holidays.
In the year 168 B.C.E., the Syrian tyrant Antiochus Epiphanes sent his soldiers to Jerusalem. The Syrians desecrated the Temple, the holiest place for Jews at that time.  Antiochus also abolished Judaism, outlawing the observance of Shabbat and the Festivals, as well as circumcision.  Altars and idols were set up for the worship of Greek gods and he offered Jews two options:  conversion or death.
On the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev in 168 B.C.E., the Temple was renamed for the Greek god Zeus. A resistance movement— led by a priestly family known as the Hasmoneans, or Maccabees—developed against the cruelty of Antiochus. The head of the family was Mattathias, an elderly man.  His son, Judah, became the chief strategist and military leader of the resistance. Though outnumbered, Judah Maccabee and his fighters miraculously won two major battles, routing the Syrians decisively.
Although historians debate the causes and outcomes of the war in which Judah Maccabee and his followers defeated the Syrian armies of Antiochus, there is no doubt that Hanukkah evokes stirring images of Jewish valor against overwhelming odds. Other themes rooted in the observance of the holiday include the refusal to submit to the religious demands of an empire practicing idolatry, the struggle against total assimilation into Hellenistic culture and loss of Jewish identity, and the fight for Jewish political autonomy and self-determination.
Hanukkah, which means “dedication,” is the festival that commemorates the purification and rededication of the Temple following the defilement caused by the Greeks during their occupation of that holy place. Today, the holiday reminds Jews to rededicate themselves to stand against forces that would destroy Judaism and to keep alive the flame of Jewish religion, culture, and peoplehood so that it may be passed on to the next generation.
Originally, the eight-day holiday was intended to parallel the eight-day festival of Sukkot. The Books of the Maccabees made no mention of the legend concerning a small jar of oil that unexpectedly lasted for eight days.  Only centuries after the Maccabees’ defeat of the Syrians did the story of the jar of oil—which has come to be a part of Hanukkah—appear in the Talmud.
According to the legend, when the Maccabees entered the Temple and began to reclaim it from the Greeks, they immediately relit the ner tamid (eternal light), which burned constantly in the Temple and has a parallel in our synagogues to this day. In the Temple, they found a single jar of oil, which was sufficient for only one day. The messenger who was sent to secure additional oil took eight days to complete his mission, and miraculously, the single jar of oil continued to burn until his return. The rabbis of the Talmud attributed the eight days of Hanukkah to the miracle of this single jar of oil.
Although the practice of lighting the menorah was common throughout much of the 19th century, North American Jews tended to neglect most of the other traditions and practices associated with the holiday.  By the 1920s, however, Jews increasingly added gift-giving to their Hanukkah celebrations, prompting Christians to refer to Hanukkah as the “Jewish Christmas.”
Like many aspects of Jewish religious practice, the transformation of Hanukkah was linked to the growth of North American Jewry within its unique environment. The elevation of Hanukkah to a major holiday was the result of Jews acculturating themselves to a North America that was overwhelmingly Christian in population and symbols.
Although Hanukkah had become an important holiday among North American Jews by the 1920s, it would be incorrect to regard it as an imitation of Christmas with an emphasis on the exchange of presents. Rather, North American Jews use this holiday as a celebration of family, reinforcing Jewish identity in a place whose population may be overwhelmingly Christian but in which Jews feel at home. Hanukkah, therefore, is a means for North American Jews to feel a kinship with their neighbors, while simultaneously asserting their Jewish distinctiveness.

I also have here a little song that also explains the Hanukah story in a more ‘entertaining’ way 😉 I warn you, though; it’s catchy 😀

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post! I decided really spur of the moment (literally two days ago) to do this ‘8 days of Hanukkah’ thing because obviously, this little blogosphere I’m in is mainly Christian, and I wanted to share and embrace some of my culture. Don’t forget to comment down below and come back tomorrow for another post!

See ya, tomorrow,

Love the Skin You’re in- Tag

Greetings, mellons! It’s Kiki! I was nominated by Julia to do this really cool tag that’s all about overcoming your insecurities and being more confident! Which, I do have problems with. Thank you so much, Julia! You’re probably wondering: why did you post this on you doll blog? Well, its because I’ve been posting a lot on my writing and photography blog (CWWC) and not really on this one…he..he. I’ll definitely work on that! But here I am now, so let’s begin!

1. One feature you love about yourself?

img_9472

That’s tough…..I have a lot of features I like. I do like my hair. It’s very thick and has some strands that are red or blonde. Which, I think is pretty cool.

My eyes are pretty. They are a light-ish brown with a tint of yellow

around the pupil and then my iris is a green-ish blue-ish dark grey. My parents both have brown/hazel eyes so me, not having brown/hazel eyes was slim. So, I think that it’s pretty cool that I beat the odds. (Sorry, if I look scared or worried. I don’t really like anything near my eyes even phones😉)

My height is not too bad, as well. I don’t really like that I have to buy my clothes online and that my feet are so big, though. My eyebrows are fine, my lips are fine, my bone frame is fine (even though it’s rather large but I don’t mind cause I’m not really prone to limbs breaking and stuff.)

2. One feature you wish/wished you could change that you are trying to accept or have accepted?

I really don’t have any, but my neck is a little different. It’s definitely not normal. Other people’s necks are thin and long. Mine is short and chunky. But weird chunky. It’s hard to explain. I also don’t like these red bumps on my upper arms and legs. Lotion helps a little. I haven’t eaten gluten in a week and they’re actually clearing up so that’s great!

3. Have you ever thought of getting surgery to change your imperfections?

Never! That stuff freaks me out and I wouldn’t really be me anymore. I’d be an imposter. A girl who believed society’s lies (excuse the doll mess 😄)

4. Has a family member or friend ever put you down about your physical appearance? If so, what for?

Yeah, they have. My weight, my height, what I wear, how I do my hair, my hair when it had blue tips, and I think that’s it. A lot of these have came from, so-called “friends”. Insecure and immature people are attracted to me. So, that’s fun.

5. Something you love about your fashion sense or style?

It’s..unique? Yeah, I’ll go with that. It doesn’t always go but it’s always comfortable! I love wearing striped or colored tees that are loose fitting, and bright colored french terry shorts in the summer. In the fall/winter I have more of a style. It’s still casual just not as bright and stretchy.

6. Why is your body a great place to be?

Well, it’s like a tool. You can do great things if you make the right choices 🙂 So, if you make good choices you’ll go places and conquer things.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you enjoyed! I tag: Chloe,Abby,Brooke Jade,Samantha.

Goodbye,

img_9654

Ps: You may notice my theme has changed and stuff. I just got a laptop so I decided it’s the perfect time to update my blog design for the fall. I’m not done yet, I’m still tweaking and making a header. So, stay tuned for that!

My Crazy Fourth of July & Fireworks photo-shoot!

Greetings and Happy late Fourth of July! 🎉 It’s your firework lover, Kiki here! Anyway, I hope you had an amazing 4th! Full of breathtaking fireworks, hanging out with friends and family, and unforgettable memories! I actually had the best 4th yet! Get ready for a long story about the family who invited us over for July 4th😄

My Mom likes watching this Guy’s YT channel (It’s called TeNak Talk and his name is Mr. Hall, by the way) and my Dad found out he lives closer to us than he thought (he lives and hour and 30 minutes away.) So, my Mom contacted him and we set up a time to Skype him as his family (that was two weeks ago; I think.) We really hit it off and stuff. So, throughout the last two weeks just us kids have Skyped each other. They have a daughter that’s my age and a son that’s Chance’s age. And then two days ago in the afternoon Mr. Hall calls my Mom and asks if we’d like to come to his house for Fourth of July and we happily accepted. When we get down there, they showed us their property and then we had dinner. Of course, I was shy and a little bit uncomfortable but that all changed when we set off fireworks…. I’ll tell you my almost death experience in a sec 😉 😂 For now, you’ll be seeing a firework photo-shoot!

img_8641

You’re probably thinking “This looks like a non-dangerous firework”. Well, guess what? YOU’RE WRONG!!

img_8642

What happened was, that they lit three fireworks on the table at the same time. Other fireworks are also on that table and one lit firework tipped over and lit some other ones in our direction. Of course, I’m oblivious to it cause I just wanted a decent photo but then I hear people running and making some noise. I’m like cowards, but I look up and see them coming right at me! while, I’m running (I was the last one to evacuate) they’re shooting out in front of my feet and everything. Here’s what happened to my clothes.

img_8629

Look at those burn marks!

img_8589

Here’s my pocket, the mesh melted and burned.

img_8590

Lastly, my shirt got a little burned and now has a hole.

img_8630

I also got this mysterious scratch. We’re still trying to find the criminal 😜 But I’m serious getting hit by a firework got me out of my shell! I don’t exactly know why, but it did!

After fireworks we jumped on their trampoline for hours, Mr. Hall showed me his set up for his vids, and then got home at like 3:00 Am.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post! Tell me in the comments down below: How you liked the Fireworks photo-shoot (and which pic you liked. I love the bokeh ones😍) and if you ever had a Firework gone wrong before! 😄

Until next time!

April synopsis-2017

img_6634
Greetings, Guys! A lot has happened in a short time that you Guys aren’t aware of so a post like this is definitely due. Let’s dive right in!

img_6635

We celebrated Passover with our group last Tuesday. It was the best seder I’ve been to so far! Even though I was nervous about choking on my food and reading😋

My back has been hurting for awhile now. I mentioned it a little in THIS post. Well, my Mom felt it and thought  it might be scoliosis. Since she felt something out of place/curved. One of the people in out Torah group is chiropractor so I went to him and he said I do not have scoliosis. I have  poor posture which made my hips turn which made one of my legs longer than they other. That’s why I’ve been having so much pain. So, I have to do certain exercises and stand up straight.

My Dad’s and brother’s birthday is very soon and I’m excited to give them their gifts!

My Aunt stayed for a week to celebrate Passover with us but she left today😢

I’m going to be going on some trips soon. Two in May, one in June, and one in July. I can’t wait! I’ll give more information about them when the dates approach.

img_6637

I want to dye my hair again(that’s not exactly news but I still want to :D)!

I’m still waiting patiently for Z. to be released! I really want an Asian doll😍

I saw the Last Jedi teaser 2 days ago! The teaser was really vague but I’m still excited to see it!

img_6636
I decided last or the week before last  that I needed to make my blog more professional. So, I updated my blog design and my about me page! I love how my design looks! I’m a graphic designer now!😉

I promise I’ll get to my giveaway soon. I’ve never done a giveaway so it’s new to me and that’s why I’m stalling.😄

I also have another surprise but that’s a secret😏

I’m soooo close to 130 followers! Thank you so much!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Don’t forget to comment down below how you like me new design and anything else you want to say 😉
